Elie Saab AW 2012

Elie Saab is one of my favorite designers, his gowns are unbelievable flattering. This season is no exception, and we are sure to see these sparkly dresses on the red carpets again.

Hot Color Alert - Kevin Murphy's Color Bug

Viime viikonlopun Cosmoprof tapahtumassa löytyi muutamia mielenkiintoisia tuotteita. Päälimmäisenä mieleeni iskostui Kevin Murphyn Color Bug.

I found some interesting products at last weekend's Cosmoprof tradeshow. Kevin Murphy's Color Bug is one of them. This little ball contains powdery color chalk that gives your hair an instant color. The best part is that it washes off immediately. Color Bug comes in three hot colors - pink, purple, and orange. I ended up buying the pink one, and I cannot wait to try out faded pink tips on my hair.

Vanessa Bruno AW 2012

This time the Paris Fashion Week has gone by while I have been vacationing in the mountains of Ardèche. I did however attend Vanessa Bruno's show earlier this week, and here are a couple of snapshots. Her collection is dark, with lots of black mixed with green and purple, balanced with sheer, flowy fabrics. The urban fairytale was perfected with messy bun with purple and green accents.

Morning Rescue Remedies

Here are my current favorite beauty products that literally rescue my mornings.

Chanelin neljän luomivärin paletti, numero 18 Kaska Beige. Värit sointuvat vaaleuteeni ja sinisiin silmiini loistavasti, pigmenttiä on juuri sopivasti, ja väri pysyy pohjustetuilla luomilla pitkään.

Chanel's eye shadow palette number 18, Kaska Beige. The colors are perfect for my fair complexion and blue eyes. The texture is smooth and easy to blend, and it stays where it is supposed to stay.

Moon Beam on Benefitin ihana aprikoosiin taittava kultainen heleyttäjä. Nestemäinen tuote on helppo pikakaunistaja, joko meikin alle tai päälle.

A newcomer to my make-up bag is Moon Beam by Benefit. It's a golden apricot face illuminator, so easy to dab under or top of the make-up for that instant iridescent glow.

BareMineralsin klassikko meikkipohja.

BareMinerals' mineral powder is a classic. Already a third time in a row when I buy this product, and I'm rarely that loyal to any brand. Last time I tried the matte version, and now I went back to the original one. So easy to use and you get that perfect natural look.

My first Essie nail polish, and I'm in love. I chose a transparent rose color that goes with everything, giving that neat look, without being too flashy. And it stays on so well.

Finally a hair conditioner that delivers what is says. Kiehl's Sunflower Color Preserving Conditioner gives me a silky smooth hair, that feels moisturized, with silicone and paraben-free formula. Plus it leaves me with a lovely scent of apricot.

Entäpä te, mitkä ovat teidän lempparituotteita?

What about you, what are your favorie products?

Eva Minge Haute Couture SS 2012

Taannoisella haute couture viikolla pyrähdin muun muassa puolalaisen Eva Mingen näytöksessä. Paikkana oli kuudennentoista kaupunginosan loistelias Shangri-La hotelli, jossa socialite-daamien asusteet kiilsivät kilpaa sisustuksen kanssa. Itse näytöksessä nähtiin 60-lukua henkiviä tötterökampauksia, ja musta-valkean kokonaisuuden parhainta antia ovat tyttömäiset pikkumekkoset liukuvärjättynä.

During the last haute couture week I attended polish designer Eva Minge’s show. The show took place in a fancy Shangri-La hotel in 16th arrondissement.  We saw a collection of white and black garments, while the girly dresses in gradient color were my absolute favorite ones. The hair embodied 60’s style, with the exaggerated beehive.

Men's Fashion Week - Day 4

The Hannibal Lecter inspired masks covered the face of every model at Walter van Beirendonck's show today. There were a lot of dandy suits, and we saw some fuzzy pink and purple sweaters. After the show I spotted something else in purple - check out the amazing hair this gentleman is sporting!

From Runway to Real Life

Just a while ago, I found some cool items from Givenchy FW10 collection - on sale. One of them was this black lace blouse. I wore it on New Year's eve, paired with a simple, black skirt. I also found another blouse, a fiery red transparent one, and a pair of wide legged pants. Now I just need the next festive occasion to wear my new gems.

Three Nights in Berlin

I visited Berlin last weekend for the first time. I only had two and a half days, but that was enough to realize Berlin's charm.

Shopping is good in Mitte and Prenzenlauer Berg. I visited many interesting second hand stores, including Made in Berlin (Neue Schönhauser Straße 19) where I found a pair of wonderful high-heeled pumps. Mauerpark flea market is a crowded outdoor market area including second hand and vintage clothes, accessories, and shoes. I’ve heard that there is another great flea market nearby, at Arkonaplatz. I had to save that for next time.

Berlin is the place for vegetarians. If you are visiting Berlin, and you like Mexican food, check out Maria Bonita (Danziger Straße 33). It is a little snack bar in Prenzenlauer Berg with handmade tortillas, authentic spices and veggie alternatives - all for very reasonable price.

Bars are also plentiful in Berlin. In fact, we almost had difficulties to choose where to go among many cool bars in Prenzenlauer and Mitte. Brut is a laid back little bar at Torstraße 72, where music is good, and beer only two and half euros. We also wandered to the next place on the same street, a busy bar called Trust. It looks grimy on the outside, but the concept is interesting as well as the dressed up mix of locals and foreigners.

We had bicycles for a day, and it was the best idea of the trip. Bike for a day rentals can be found all around the city for 12€ a day, and the city is filled with bike lanes. On top of all the quirky neighborhoods we rode through during our 25km(!) city tour, we also saw Treptower park, with its huge soviet memorial site.
